It all started in the spring of 2012 — a group of 40 journalism students at Ball State enrolled in a course that sent us to the Olympic Games in London later that summer.
A trip of a lifetime.
During the spring, we met a few times per week to prep for the trip. We made contacts, drafted countless stories, features, interviews, etc … We spent hours researching various U.S. athletes and teams we’d be covering.
Our duty? Well, the stories, designs and video packages we produced were sent to various media outlets back in the U.S.. That was pretty cool. More importantly, aside from working as young professionals, we did our best to soak up every moment of the three weeks in England. We got a great taste of the culture and heritage — something really fascinating.
I mentioned earlier how it was a trip of a lifetime, because it most certainly was. Not many people can say they went to the Olympic Games — in London! — over their lifetime. I was truly blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing group of journalists.
